Discussion about pewter casting.

Again a warm welcome to my new followers.

We had a discussion about the vent holes, should they run upwards or downwards.
I did some testing and it proves that the vent holes should run upwards.
When the vent holes are facing down first the air then the pewter runs out of the vent holes. The mold will never get filled because the hot pewter runs out like water. You can compare it with a bucket with a hole in it, the bucket will never be filled.

It feels like occupational therapy. Certainly when my husband told me that he already knew because liquid stuff runs down. Grrrrr....I think I sent him to a retirement home as a volunteer to help the occupational therapist. ;)

So file the carving knife in shape. Placed a bead and the knife is ready.

I made a box to display  my knife.

Ameland for a short break.

No Pewter Casting this time. 

We wanted a short break on a "subtropical island". So we went to Ameland !! A Dutch island !

We didn't travel by plane but by car and ferry boat. 

It was possible to walk to the island because it was low tide but but we chose the ferry.

We saw a seal. They're very shy. You don't see them very often.

The weather was good for kite surfing. That's not my cup of tea. 

I went to the beach with a tea-strainer. To search for little shells. We saw a lot of shells but no little ones for the dollhouse.
