Victorian House Style an architectural and interior design source book. The writer is Linda Osband.
When I'm speaking about: in this book then refer to Victorian House Style.
All of my designs are 1:12 cm. To achieve this I start to measure all the dimensions of the desired object.
When I got all my measurements I'm going to divide them all by twelve. This will result in a representation from the object in scale 1:12. For instance a football: I'll measure the diameter of the ball. This is, for instance, 36 cm. Divide this by twelve and you will have the exact diameter for your football in 1:12 scale.
In this example I'm talking about CM because I live in the Netherlands and we metric instead of English.
So this means 1 cm. = 0,39 inch. For the conversion you should check: www.manuelsweb.com/in.cm.htm
In this book I saw a lovely bed and I thought this is the one for my doll house.
So I bought brass tubes, some Gift card decoration sticker and beads and started to create the bed on a 1:12 scale.
Start cutting the brass tubes:
4 times brass tube 0,2 cm. Ø length 7,5 cm.
4 times brass tube 0,2 cm. Ø length 15 cm.
3 time brass tube 0,2 cm. Ø length 10 cm.
3 times brass tube 0,15 cm. Ø length 10 cm.
1 time brass tube 0,15 cm. Ø length 11 cm.
4 times brass tube 0,15 cm. Ø length 8 cm.
4 times brass tube 0,15 cm. Ø length 5,5 cm.
14 times brass tube 0,1 cm. Ø length 4,2 cm.
Solder all the tubes together like the bed frame in the picture.
4 beads 0,3 cm. Ø
4 beads 0,2 cm. Ø
4 beads 0,4 cm. long
8 needles
Put a needle inside the beads as shown on the picture and glue 4 times 0,3 cm. Ø at the end of the legs of the bed. That's possible because the brass tube is hollow. At the top you put a needle through the 0,4 cm. long bead and the 0,2 cm. Ø and glue on the top of the bed.
Because the solder tin and sticker are visible, I've painted the bed with brass paint from Humbol Enamel color-code Met 54.
I wish you good luck and joy by making this bed.
