Dear followers,

I'm glad to have so many followers already. That means it's time for a celebration.

So time for  a give away!

When you like my knife in a box please place a comment. I don't sell. I love to give it to people who appreciate my experiences. I'm not an artist but just a housewife that doesn't want a lot of trumpery in her house.

Please leave a comment when you like to get one of these two knives.

Making a box for my knife.

I use white cardboard. For the box, start with a piece of cardboard of 4x2 cm. The height of the edges is 0,5 cm.

For the cover is, start with a piece of cardboard of 3,6x1,6 cm. The height of the edges is 0,2 cm.

I cut out the corners because when you fold the edges together the corners would be too thick.

I scribe the folding edges. So you get a sharp fold.

I took rice paper to glue around the box. This way you can connect the corners of the box

and the cover.

Before gluing the rice paper to the cardboard I fold it. At the narrow side I left 0,5 cm over so I can glue the edges together.

I glue the bottom of the box and let it dry.

Then I glue the narrow side. The corners are together at the moment as you can see in this picture.

Now you only have to glue the other sides. I worked the same way for the cover.

The box is finished and ready to show the knife.

Discussion about pewter casting.

Again a warm welcome to my new followers.

We had a discussion about the vent holes, should they run upwards or downwards.
I did some testing and it proves that the vent holes should run upwards.
When the vent holes are facing down first the air then the pewter runs out of the vent holes. The mold will never get filled because the hot pewter runs out like water. You can compare it with a bucket with a hole in it, the bucket will never be filled.

It feels like occupational therapy. Certainly when my husband told me that he already knew because liquid stuff runs down. Grrrrr....I think I sent him to a retirement home as a volunteer to help the occupational therapist. ;)

So file the carving knife in shape. Placed a bead and the knife is ready.

I made a box to display  my knife.
